In April 2019 we did the first autism awareness cross country race in Iten town, Elgeyo Marakwet county. Through this race we brought together hundreds of children and adults with special needs together with their parents and caregivers joined by community members. People got to register to participate in the race and run for autism. The community was very supportive as different individuals and organizations came out to give various in-kind donations like branded t-shirt’s, water and gifts to for the winners and soccer kits to the community boys and girls with an interest in soccer. We are proud of creating such a platform that brings people together to acknowledge the less privileged and allows them to be kind to their own community by giving back and getting to know and appreciate the differently-abled in their midst. We will do this race annually every other April.
